9 nations to Rjukan
Telemark skiers from 9 nations is participating in the World Cup races in Rjukan this week.
World Cup no 1 starts as No 1
Phillipe Lau, France is no 1 in World Cup Total so far. In Rjukan Thursday Phillipe starts as No 1, to defend his World Championships title from last year.
He started first time in World Cup Rjukan in 2006, ending 4th in the Telemark Sprint competition. Now, six years later, his the big favourite to win his first World Cup title in Rjukan. He has ended second, two times third, and fourth, but never on the top of the podium - in World Cup.
Thursday Phillipe Lau might set the ultimate standard from the very start of the competition. His hardest World Cup rivals at the moment, Bastien Dayer, SUI and Jørgen Holst, NOR, starts as No 14 and No 11. 29 men are at start.
The ladies competition has a Norwegian girl in pole position, Maren Ulvestad Haugstuen. The two big favourites, Amelie Reymond, SUI and Sigrid Rykhus, NOR starts as No 4 and 9.
First round Telemark Sprint starts at 9 a.m, second round at 12.
